Dr. Mitchell Waskin

Dr. Mitchell Waskin, a board-certified podiatric surgeon, serves as the Medical Director of The Foot & Ankle Center in Richmond, Virginia. Originally from Philadelphia, he attended Albright College and Temple University before earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1983. During his senior year, he was honored with the American College of Podopediatrics Award for Outstanding Achievement.


He completed his surgical residency in foot and ankle surgery at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia, then advanced his expertise with specialized training in laser surgery, arthroscopy, rigid internal fixation, and cryosurgery. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association Service Award in 1988.


Board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery since 1995, and recertified in 2015, Dr. Waskin has also served on peer review committees for the State of Virginia and professional societies. He has played an active role in establishing credentialing standards for foot surgeons in Virginia hospitals.



A past president of the Richmond Academy of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Waskin has lectured to medical professionals on a range of topics and published research in the Journal of Foot Surgery. He is affiliated with CJW Medical Center, including Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals.
