Your Foot Photo Can Help Stomp Out Diabetes

Show us your Selfie Footie and help stomp out diabetes

November is National Diabetes Month, and this year we have a fun way to help raise money for the American Diabetes Association. We call it the "Selfie Footie" campaign, and you can help — it's easy and won't cost you a thing — except a picture of your feet! Here's how it works:

  • Snap a quick photo of your feet. You can be wearing shoes or socks or be barefoot, you can have a fancy pedicure, or you can just look down at whatever your feet are doing right NOW, and take a photo! Then, share your photo on our Facebook page — just look for the "Show us your Selfie Footie" post, and comment on the post with your pic. (Click the little camera icon in the comments field to upload your photo.)

  • For every Selfie Footie picture you post on our Facebook page, we'll contribute $5 to the American Diabetes Association, up to $2,500, through the end of November.

  • Win a free pedicure: the Selfie Footie pic on our Facebook page with the most likes by noon each Friday in November wins a free pedicure in our medical-grade spa! (In a tie, the one that was posted FIRST wins.) See contest rules.

You may wonder why all of us at The Foot & Ankle Center care so much about stomping out diabetes. It's because we see so many patients with diabetic foot problems, and foot problems are the number one cause of hospitalization for diabetics, sometimes leading to amputations. This is also why we stress the importance of annual comprehensive diabetic foot exams. If you're diabetic and you haven't had your annual foot exam yet, please make an appointment as soon as possible!

We're also offering a free seminar in our clinic on Nov. 19 on "What Every Diabetic Should Know About Feet." It's a free educational event, but space is limited, so register for the seminar to reserve your seat.
